Welcome to a new and exciting year at the Firebaugh High School Agriculture Department. Mrs. Correia, Ms. Goeb, Mr. Lieb, Ms. Smith, and Mr. Ortiz look forward to continuing the long tradition of success and hope that each and every one of you will become an involved member of our exciting program!
Our curriculum is on the cutting edge and our facilities are ones we are proud of and compliment our already highly successful FFA Chapter. It is our hope to offer curriculum to our students that will provide them the opportunity to learn more about agriculture and science technologies while receiving credits to graduate and get into college. With these goals in mind we are continuing to offer our Agriculture Earth Science (AFNR), Sustainable Agriculture Biology, Agriculture Physical Science, and Agriculture and Soil Chemistry, and AdvancedInterdisciplinary Science for Sustainable Agriculture courses to our students. We are very proud to say that ALL of our science courses count for Firebaugh High School graduation credits, as well as admission credits for the University of California system, and ALL science classes at Firebaugh High School are also Agriculture Classes.
This year we will be taking a pigs, sheep, goats, rabbits, floral displays, agriculture mechanics projects and poultry to the Chowchilla and Madera Fairs. We will also demonstrate our landscaping skills with a landscape plot at the fairs. Furthermore, as a benefit to our students we have continued to refine class offerings to ensure a complete pathway not only in agriculture science, agriculture mechanics to. In addition we are diligently working to complete a Animal Science and Floral Pathway and hopes of introducing Plant Science into the fold next year, with the pathway being complete in three years. Additionally, to have the capacity for the growing of our animal projects we have developed and will erect a poultry barn to raise laying hens and support the Turkey Ticket Project we run, we also have constructed a rabbit barn that could rival almost anywhere.
The officer team has set the theme for the coming year: "Envision your Journey!"As advisors, we agree that individual student growth, both personally and professionally, is the number one most important element our department can offer each member, and we believe the best way to offer that opportunity is to allow our students to attend any and all events and activities. In order for this growth to occur we will provide many different opportunities for student involvement throughout the year. The Program of Activities can be used as a guide, outlining the variety of opportunities students can become involved with in our outstanding FFA chapter. Student involvement is the key to success for a powerful Agriculture program. The success of your Agriculture department is almost entirely dependent upon your involvement and your desire to do the very best you can do.
So once again, welcome back, as advisors we look forward to working with each and every one of you and firmly believe that with your help we can ensure that Firebaugh FFA remains among the very best Agriculture programs in the state!
Sincerely,
The Firebaugh FFA Advisors Mrs. Correia Ms. Goeb Mr. Lieb Mr. Ortiz Ms. Smith
