Firebaugh FFA members selected to participate in FARMS program
Fresno- Seven Firebaugh FFA members have been selected to participate in this year’s FARMS Leadership Program, based in Fresno, California. The seven students join over 30 other students from high schools located in the Fresno area. These seven students will travel throughout the central valley to see how various agricultural industries are ran and be introduced to new aspects of agriculture.
The FARMS Leadership Program puts students in agricultural settings around their communities where they learn and experience the relevance of basic environmental and agricultural sciences. During their monthly field days, students work with-and learn from- farmers, ranchers, teachers, agricultural business owners, environmental professionals, academics, and researchers from nearby areas. Students will also identify a need in their community and create a relevant Community Action Project to put into use in their towns. Some of their field days include tomato harvesting, almond processing, watershed development, wildlife production and entomology.
The seven students representing Firebaugh FFA in the program are Chelsea Guaydacan, Aaron Caballero, Ysela Macias, Loren Mumby, Mystery Magdaleno, Amber La Salle and Jonathan Crank.
